This service is not the same as the usual Minneapolis Wifi. This is specific for the Falls & Pinnacle building. Each resident who signs up will get a modem that connects to the physical phone line of their unit (with wireless capability). This will NOT affect standard telephone service (phone service that is NOT over the internet/VOIP). This way no matter what floor you are on, you will get full strength wired and wireless service to your unit. To make this happen a lot of expensive equipment must be installed on the roof and demarcation room (where the phone services come into the building) hence the need for 125 confirmed sign-ups to cover the cost of this installation by USI Wireless.
Through 5 months of negotiation, USI Wireless has agreed to offer unprecedented incentives to our building:
- The best price/bandwidth of any service or any building. We are the FIRST and ONLY building to be offered the two special high speed bundles listed below due to the HOA negotiations with USI. No other building has been offered these extra dedicated bandwidth packages (see below).

HOW THE SERVICE WORKS
USI will place equipment on the rooftop of the Pinnacle which will receive/send internet signal to the IDS tower downtown. From the rooftop a fiber optic cable will be run down into the phone demarcation room where additional equipment will convert the fiber optic signal to a usable internet signal over your unit's phone line. (this will not affect your existing phone service and you do NOT need to have a phone service for this to work) Each unit will then get a modem which gives the unit individual internet access at speeds listed below in the pricing matrix. This will ensure that everyone who signs up gets a strong clear signal in their unit. With cable or DSL the load of other users in our area during peak demand will affect our overall speeds. It is important to note that the service to our building from USI Wireless/Minneapolis WiFi is DEDICATED up to 1.6Gig per second. This means unlike cable or DSL, our buildings bandwidth is isolated from all neighboring buildings/business/houses. No matter what others around us are using, our building always has this dedicated bandwidth available to us alone so no more slowdowns!
RIVERWEST HAS BEEN USING THIS SERVICE FOR 2 YEARS NOW
Riverwest has been using this service for two years and the residents are very happy with no technical issues. The Falls & Pinnacle are being offered special high bandwidth ugprades that Riverwest does not have due to the efforts of the HOA board and our negotiations with USI Wireless. If you have an existing bundled package such as Cable TV/Internet/Phone, switching your internet service to USI Wireless may affect your package pricing. Once you become a customer of USI/Wireless you can change your speed/pricing tier as necessary at any time.
WHAT THE SERVICE INCLUDES
The service would include 24/7 high speed internet access at the speeds/prices listed below. In addition the modem in your unit is also a WiFi access point so there is no additional equipment needed for WiFi (or you can use your existing WiFi access point if you wish). USI Wireless will help you setup your wifi in your home. In addition every customer will also have a username/login to allow access to Minneapolis WiFi throughout the city anywhere the Minneapolis Wifi/USI Wireless hotspots are available! This includes the ability for smartphones to use the Minneapolis Wifi/USI Wireless hotspots around town too (laptop, cell phone, etc.)!
WHAT IT COSTS YOU
The pricing matrix below outlines the different prices for different levels of service (internet access bandwidth/speed). In addition there is the cost of the DSL modem that will hook up to your phone line. This can be paid as a one time cost of $79.95 plus tax -OR- as a monthly lease of $4.95 per month with monthly paid plans or $59.40 per year lease with annual plans. Purchased modems do come with a 1 year warranty and have very low failure rates. All contracts for service are between USI Wireless and you, the resident. Paradise and the Falls and Pinnacle HOA will NOT be involved in billing. These fees cannot be paid through HOA dues, only directly to USI Wireless.
